Alden Design 34.5 in Cat Tree Tower with Condo Review
The Alden Design 34.5 in Cat Tree Tower review covers whether its condo and perches suit small cats, and the unlisted material and weight capacity to verify.
The decision in 30 seconds
The Alden Design 34.5 in H Cat Tree Tower is a compact, black cat tree that pairs an enclosed condo with perches, aimed at giving cats a place to hide, climb and rest without a large footprint. At roughly 34.5 inches tall, it is a small-to-mid tower suited to kittens, smaller adult cats or tight spaces rather than large or multi-cat households. The listing confirms the height, condo and perch features but omits material, weight capacity, base dimensions and color options. Consider it if you want a modest starter tower and are willing to verify load and stability details on the live product page first.
What we verified
This review covers the Alden Design 34.5 in H Cat Tree Tower with Condo and Perches in black, based on the Walmart listing record. It verifies what the catalog actually states, separates that from marketing language, and flags the specifications a buyer still needs to confirm.
The Alden Design 34.5 in H Cat Tree Tower with Condo and Perches is a compact cat tree sold through Walmart under item ID 848292968 in black. Its purpose is straightforward: give a cat a dedicated place to climb, perch and hide within a small footprint, rather than serving as a large multi-level activity center.
The decisive documented facts are the stated 34.5 inch height, the enclosed condo and the perches. Together these indicate a small-to-mid tower with at least one covered retreat and one or more raised resting spots. For a cat, a covered condo can provide a sense of security, while perches at height satisfy the common preference to observe a room from above.
Because the height is modest, the practical consequence is that this tower fits smaller cats and tighter spaces well, but is unlikely to satisfy a large cat that wants to climb high or a home with several cats competing for perches. That is the main trade-off: compact convenience in exchange for limited height and capacity.
Several important specifications are simply not in the record. Material, weight capacity, base size and whether scratching surfaces are sisal are all unstated. These gaps directly affect stability, longevity and how well the tree holds up to active use, and none of them can be assumed from the product type alone.
The listing carries an aggregate rating and review count, but no individual written reviews were supplied. Treat that rating as a general signal only; it is not evidence of specific recurring strengths or complaints, so this review does not draw conclusions about real-world durability or assembly from it.
Strengths and trade-offs
What stands out
- Stated height of 34.5 inches keeps it in the compact tower range, so it can fit in a corner, bedroom or apartment where a full-height tree would not.
- Includes an enclosed condo, which gives a cat a covered hiding spot that many cats prefer for napping and feeling secure.
- Offers perches in addition to the condo, giving a cat more than one resting height to choose from.
- Black finish is neutral and blends with most furniture, useful for buyers who want the piece to be visually unobtrusive.
- Listed under a single, clearly identified Walmart item (ID 848292968), which makes it easy to confirm you are ordering the exact product described.
What to keep in mind
- The record does not state the material, so durability, scratch surface type and whether posts are sisal-wrapped are unknown.
- No weight capacity or maximum cat size is documented, which matters for a tower of this height and for heavier cats.
- Base dimensions and overall footprint are not listed, so stability and floor space needed cannot be judged from the data.
- Review evidence is limited to an aggregate rating and count; no individual written reviews are supplied, so recurring owner opinions cannot be verified here.
Who this product suits
A good fit for
- Kittens or smaller adult cats that need a modest climbing and resting spot
- Apartment or small-room owners who want a compact tower rather than a floor-to-ceiling unit
- First-time cat owners looking for a low-commitment starter tree
- Buyers who specifically want an enclosed condo hideaway
Consider another design if
- Homes with large or heavy cats, since no weight capacity or reinforced-base data is provided
- Multi-cat households needing many perches, because this compact design offers limited resting levels
- Buyers wanting a tall climbing tower, as 34.5 inches is short for active jumpers
- Shoppers who require confirmed sisal scratching surfaces, which the listing does not specify

Frequently asked questions
How tall is this cat tree and what does that mean for my cat?
The listing states a height of 34.5 inches, placing it in the compact-to-mid range. That suits kittens and smaller adult cats but is short for large cats that want a tall climbing tower.
What is it made of and how much weight can it hold?
The supplied record does not list the material or a weight capacity. Because both affect stability and durability, confirm them on the live product page before buying, especially for heavier cats.
Does it have a scratching surface?
The listing describes a condo and perches but does not specify whether the posts are wrapped in sisal or another scratch material. If a dedicated scratching surface matters to you, verify it on the item page.
Is it available in colors other than black?
The record only documents a black finish and lists no color variants. Check the live listing to confirm whether other colors are offered.
