Wolldi Ranking Methodology
The principles behind Wolldi Score and explainable product ordering.
Wolldi Score is a decision aid, not a laboratory grade, safety certification, or guarantee that one product is objectively best for everyone. The score is calculated for the current request and can change when the shopper’s priorities change.
Signals used in ranking
- Relevance: whether the product type and facts match the request.
- Requirements: price ceilings, exclusions, delivery limits, and requested specifications.
- Product evidence: available specifications, rating, review count, stock, and merchant-provided information.
- Tradeoffs: price, features, quality signals, and availability are weighted according to the intent of the request.
Mandatory conditions and preferences
A mandatory condition is a reason to exclude a product. A preference is a reason to rank one suitable product above another. Keeping these roles separate reduces attractive but unusable recommendations.
Missing and conflicting information
Missing data should lower confidence, not be replaced with a guess. Merchant information can be delayed or inconsistent, so material facts must be verified at checkout. Ratings from different sources are not treated as identical unless their meaning is compatible.
Affiliate relationships
An affiliate relationship may generate revenue after a qualifying purchase. It should not silently increase relevance or product quality. If a commercial placement changes ordering, it must be identified as sponsored or paid placement.
Editorial and hands-on evidence
Catalog summaries are not hands-on tests. A review must say when it is based only on available product data. Original testing, measurements, photographs, and long-term use should be described separately and supported by the work actually performed.
